About the Expo

The Ohio Thespian Expo (formerly Ohio Fall Thespian Festival) is a single day combining five events that provide theatre students across the state with a variety of opportunities to learn, connect, showcase, and expand their experience in theatre arts.

You may register for multiple events. Most events will have individual start times, so please check your confirmation emails for details.

 

Registration and payment are due October 17, 2025

 

PLEASE NOTE: In our pursuit of increased accessibility, scholarships are available for those who need financial assistance to participate Unified Auditions or Thespy® adjudication. Please indicate your need on your registration form and submit it BEFORE October 17, to be considered for free or reduced registration.

About the Events

Ohio Unified Auditions and Interviews

OPEN TO SENIORS AND TRANSFER STUDENTS ONLY

 

This is an opportunity to audition and interview with several colleges from Ohio and surrounding states. Please see Ohio Unified Auditions Page for more information. Auditions will also be accepted virtually. If you select virtual audition, you will receive further instructions after registration closes.

Registration Cost: $75 (Financial assistance is available for Ohio students only)​

College Fair

STUDENTS GRADES 9-12 

Registration Cost: FREE

Explore the College Fair, where all participating colleges from the Ohio Unified Auditions and Interviews will have tables set up for you to connect with representatives and learn more about their programs. This is a fantastic opportunity to begin your college search. Don’t miss the chance to stop by while you’re in the building!

Thespys® Qualifying Event

INDUCTED OHIO THESPIANS GRADES 9-12.

Registration Cost: $25 per event entered

The Thespys®, or International Thespian Excellence Awards, recognize the highest level of achievement in school theatre performance, technical theatre, playwriting, and filmmaking.​ For more information about categories and judging, please see the Thespy® Competition Page.

THIS IS THE ONLY OPPORTUNITY TO QUALIFY FOR THESPYS® IN OHIO FOR GRADES 9-12.

All-Ohio Show Audition Callbacks and Production Crew Interviews

INDUCTED OHIO THESPIANS GRADES 7-12

Registration Cost: There is no cost to audition or interview; however, there is a $250 participations fee for all cast and crew members who are selected. Scholarships information will be made available after the cast and crew list is finalized.

Interested in participating in the All-Ohio show, Ragtime: The Musical? We will be holding callback auditions, and interviewing actors, designers and technicians during the Ohio Thespian Expo. 

 

Please review the Ragtime Audition and Interview Packet, then proceed to The Audition/Interview Google Classroom to register. All first-round auditions and interviews will take place through a virtual prescreen audition. The deadline for self-tape and resume submissions is Sunday, October 12, 2025.

Technical Theatre Academy

STUDENTS GRADES 9-12

Registration Cost: FREE

Discover a variety of engaging workshops—including color theory, stage management, Tech 101, costuming, and more! Learn directly from industry professionals and gain valuable insights to bring back to your own productions this season. While you are here, you can also get ready for the Technical Theatre Challenge at the Ohio Thespian Festival! Experienced technicians will guide you through each event, offering practice time, hands-on support, and valuable tips. Explore our Tech Challenge Prep , ask questions, and build the confidence to showcase your skills.

Advocacy & Leadership Development

STUDENTS GRADES 9-12, TROUPE DIRECTORS & PARENTS

Registration Cost: FREE

Students can join the Ohio Thespians STOs (State Thespian Officers) in a workshop covering a variety of advocacy and leadership topics to make this the best year yet for your school's troupe! We encourage all troupe officers to come.

Troupe Directors & Parents are invited to join representatives from participating colleges and universities to learn more about the expectations and experience in an undergrad performing arts program and other opportunities, such as financial aid.
